Sketches?

1 min read

It's been 2 years, time for a new journal.

Does DA no longer have Scraps/a Scraps type alternative? I'm considering if I should start dumping the unfinished sketches I only put on tumblr here as well, but kind of want them in their own area where less effort is expended posting them. (I know, it's just making a title and clicking some stuff, but this is where I am in my life.)

Hey dudes, a small journal entry/update, so that hopefully one day I will look at it, and the world will be slightly more normal, and I can go "Glad that's passed." and update it to something inane.

Life is very different right now. I, like (hopefully) many of you, am currently in a shelter-in-place/safer-at-home location. Have you ever wanted to be around other people so much, or want to eat food you don't have access to so badly? More than that, have you ever felt the need to be productive (you're stuck at home! all this free time!), and also completely felt that you're failing at it? That last bit has been looming, lately (though I also want to eat fancy charcuterie spreads instead of literally any of the food in my house) and it's hard to not acknowledge it. So, as a reminder to myself, and to others, you don't HAVE TO be productive right now*, if you can't complete anything you can chill, read a book, and try again tomorrow.

That's about it, stay safe.

*Sorry, people still at jobs, you probably do need to be productive at those. But you can also feel exhausted while doing it.

Rules: "You must spell out your username and list a song beginning w/ the letter, then tag as many people as there are letters."

S
Santa Monica - Everclear

A
Absolutely (Story of a Girl) - Nine Days

S
September - Earth, Wind & Fire

H
HandClap - Fitz and the Tantrums

A
American Music - Violent Femmes

M
Move - Saint Motel

Y
Your Woman - White Town

A
Alcohol - Brad Paisley

That was actually a lot easier than I thought it'd be. Feel free to use this as a cross-section of my musical tastes.

I tag:

:iconfirekitty:

That's it, I'm too lazy to tag enough people for all of the letters. Don't think poorly of me.

2016

3 min read

The past couple of years I've hoped the next year would turn out better, but then we get 2016.

Friends and people who follow me on tumblr know that 2016's general awfulness cumulated for me in the loss of my dad at the start of December (the major culprit for my general lack of activity over the last couple months.)

While a new year starting won't heal the failures and hurts of the last 12 months I'm going to continue to assume that maybe it will be better (something my dad would describe as "a triumph of hope over experience.")

I hope everyone's holidays were happy, and that more happiness lies ahead. Good luck in 2017, everybody ♥

Okay, I'm just going to say it outright: I'm not doing a good job at this keeping up on journals thing.

Thank you again to everyone for the birthday wishes!! Real life is sort of crushing me currently, but I do read everyone's comments and appreciate all of them.

In other news - SOMEONE  reminded me I have random cafepress stores floating around in the ether, taking up space on the interwebs. I'm trying to decide if I should bother cleaning them up, consolidating, or shutting them down. Do people even still use cafepress? Or is it all S6 and whatnot now a days? I don't keep up with what the young people are doing very well.
