well, july is over and with it goes gift-art month. i didn't get everyone i wanted done so i'll probably have some more thrown in some time. in the meantime you get a bunch of sashas. or at least 2 because that's how many pictures of her i had started.

i'd seen a picture somewhere where all the negative space was a pattern and it had looked interesting so i wanted to try it. sadly, by the end of this little experiment i didn't like how the pattern looked and stuck with flat black, which tends to be dressed properly for any occasion. this is based off a like, 2 inch at the most tall doodle of sasha's face looking irritated. i liked the expression a lot more in the doodle than in the finished version. something about cleaning up images tends to rob them of some of their life. doodles/sketches tend to be more loose and lively. what can ya do. since i was using the pen tool in photoshop to do all of this i got to play up the hair which always makes me happy. the hair and the coloring on the eyes are actually the only parts i REALLY like still. it's not so much that things in the image look WRONG to me, the just don't look the way i'd wanted them to, which is kind of a letdown for any sort of artist i think.

i was going to work on this more to see if i could tweak it until i was happy with it, but i lost interest so this is the final version.

OH! but for people always itching to critique or something, now you can do something helpful. the text, i want it there but the way it is now is just bad. so, if anyone has a suggestion as to how to make it fit a bit better feel free to lemme know. if a way is figured out i'll probably update the picture with it and maybe make a print. we'll see.
